Residents to start benefiting from Giyani Bulk Water Project

Limpopo — like other provinces in the country — has had to deal with years of water scarcity.

Now, after nearly a decade of work, the Giyani Bulk water project is a step closer to quenching residents’ thirst.

Water is finally flowing from the Nandoni pipeline into a canal just outside Giyani.

The Water and Sanitation Department says over a million people will now have access to clean water.

“The project has been running for some years now, there were issues which were well-documented in terms of corruption,” said the department’s Risimati Mathye.

“The department put funding to accelerate the project towards completion.”
