Gift of the Givers waits for Shiraaz Mohamed’s ransom call

The humanitarian organisation, The Gift of the Givers is waiting for a ransom call from the abductors of photojournalist Shiraaz Mohamed.
He was abducted in January 2017 outside a hospital in Darkoush, Syria.
On Sunday, more than two years after his abduction, a video was released by his abductors.
The video shows Mohamed speaking in front of an armed man.
In it, he appeals for help from the government, his family and the international community in securing his release.
Gift of the Givers says they expect Mohamed’s captors to soon send a request for money.
They also say they’re not yet in a position to reveal who Mohamed’s abductors are.
The Gift of The Givers says because of the instability in Syria, the government is unable to successfully deal with this particular case.
Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, from The Gift of The Givers, said, “Our government doesn’t have relations with the North Side, where Shiraaz is kept.
They have no connection on the ground. We have the advantage to get inside because we run the biggest hospital in the north of Syria.”
“I can’t talk about it now, it would put a lot of people into serious trouble,” Sooliman said.
