The five accused in the disappearance of 23-year-old German tourist Nick Frischke are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Monday.
It’s been 20 months since the 23-year-old German disappeared on Valentine’s Day in 2023.
Frischke failed to return after going on a hike along the Hangberg Trail in Hout Bay.
Western Cape police said they were following up on all leads, hoping to make a breakthrough in the disappearance of the German tourist.
Despite reports that there are new developments to crack the case on Frischke, police have distanced themselves from the rumour.
Five suspects – Igshaan Fisher, Jason Abrahams, Vanroy Petersen, Carlo, and Melvin Guenantin – are facing charges of robbery.
The group previously confessed to robbing the German tourist of his belongings, including a cellphone, backpack, and other items.
They, however, denied killing him or having anything to do with his disappearance.
The State, however, made submissions late in 2023 to add murder charges. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the matter would go to trial on Monday.
