There will be tough consequences for GBV perpetrators, says Ramaphosa

President Ramaphosa says he has signed into three bills into law that protect women.
He said there is no justifiable reason for men to believe they own women in this day and age.
He made the comments during the official Women’s Day event at the Union Buildings.
He said, “we have responded to the call of tougher bail conditions for perpetrators, in fact we want to move to a stage of when you touch a woman; no bail for you. When you kill a woman; life sentence for you.”
“Effective from this month no police bail for persons charged with rape even if the person was in a domestic relationship with the victim issue a protection order against them.”
