There’s a solution for frustrated road users to alleviate the pothole crisis in Gauteng.

The province’s Transport and Roads department is using technology with a pothole reporting app to fix those pesky holes in the road.

The app can be downloaded on a smartphone then when a user sees a pothole they are able to report It.

An app called Potholefix GP has been launched by the Transport and Roads Department together with the working with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.

It’s expected to update user after the report, the assigning process until the jobs is done and the pothole is fixed.

Gauteng Transport and Roads MEC Jacob Mamabolo says this is a step into the digital era.

He said, “we’ve increased and improved our capacity to maintain and improve the ability to improve our road network. We have a state of the art digital platform interfacing with communities and the people ”

Mamabolo says although the app is dedicated to provincial roads if national roads are affected they will escalate the report.
