The Gauteng Transport department has launched a new licence renewal booking system. Request-a-slot is web-based and motorists will have to ask for a slot. Drivers will then be given a spot within 30 days. Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo, says this will help reduce the backlog.
Mamabolo was at the Bronkhortspruit Taxi Rank on Saturday morning as part of the Smart Mobility Weekend initiative.
The MEC and team were in the area to conduct road maintenance, assist in the provincial COVID-19 vaccine rollout, and check whether people understand the Request-A-Slot program.
