Gauteng Premier David Makhura says inner city has become a hotspot

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says the Johannesburg inner city has become a COVID-19 hotspot. Makhura was speaking at a briefing where he delivered updates on the number of COVID-19 infections in the province.
“In terms of the number of active cases, there is an area from Rosebank to the CBD of Johannesburg and to Mayfair, that would be an area of great concern to us,” said Makhura.
Last month, Makhura warned that the province could revert to higher levels of the lockdown should the infection rate spike. South Africa has a total of 40,792 COVID-19 infections and 848 fatalities.
