COVID-19: Gauteng Health MEC Jacob says too early to celebrate the drop in hospital admissions

Acting Gauteng Health MEC Jacob Mamabolo says it is too early to celebrate the significant drop in COVID-19 admissions at Gauteng hospitals.

“We cannot be complacent because the numbers have dropped, we must be on the alert, we must place the province on a high level of alertness.

Globally we have seen the behaviour of the pandemic or virus, is that those countries that had initially celebrated victory, we are seeing that now they are going into renewed levels of lockdown,” he said.

The total number of confirmed cases in South Africa is 559,858.

More than 400,000 patients have recovered from COVID-19.
