Gauteng Education cracking down on exam cheating
The Gauteng Education Department is cracking down on cheating as the 2019 matric exams begin. Invigilators have been trained and are using new rules to ensure that not even the latest technology can be used to cheat. Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says they are hoping for great results.
“We are combat-ready. We have a very strong invigilation system. We are monitoring gadgets like watches, necklaces, bangles, earrings, jackets. There was huge investment put into that space. He was speaking at Parktown Boys’ High School where he paid a visit to oversee matric exams.

Radius Masukume, who was stabbed while trying to stop a woman from being raped in a field in Cape Town, has been nominated for a SA Men of the Year Award for his brave actions. The awards, which started as a national campaign against gender-based violence in 2015, recognise positive male role models in society.
The campaign has honoured legends such as advocate George Bizos, entrepreneur and property developer Richard Maponya and athlete Bruce Fordyce, among others. Read more
