Update: 10 die from gastrointestinal infection in Hammanskraal

The death toll from a gastrointestinal infection in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria has risen to 10, with the City of Tshwane now urging residents in Hammanskraal and surrounding areas not to drink water from taps.

Outbreak response teams have been dispatched and water samples have been collected for tests.

Residents are being urged to seek medical attention if they are feeling sick, and health facilities are on high alert.

The city says they are providing water through tankers to informal settlements.
