Fuel prices expected to go up

High fuel price increases are expected for this month. According to the Automobile Association, 93 and 95 unleaded petrol are expected to climb by between 64 cents and 66 cents a litre respectively. Diesel is expected to increase by around 63 cents while illuminating paraffin is also expected to be 47 cents a litre. The Association says the numbers indicate that the short-lived relief South African motorists enjoyed in the past three months is over.

It says according to the current unaudited fuel data from the Central Energy Fund, a litre of 95 unleaded petrol inland will increase from R22.49 a litre to R23.15. The price of 93 unleaded petrol inland will also increase from R22.17 litre to R22.81.

The Association says the fuel price increases will have a negative impact on household budgets post the festive season spending and stretched budgets. Motorists are urged to monitor their fuel usage carefully and to budget according to the new fuel prices which come into effect on Wednesday.
