Freight forwarders calls for govt to act at Beitbridge border post

The transport and freight forwarding industries are calling for urgent intervention at the Beitbridge border post. They are arguing that truck drivers are COVID-19 aware but there isn’t enough being done to keep them safe at the border.

The South African Association of Freight Forwarders’ Lin Botha said, “the drivers and the transporters are well aware of what happens to them, industry and economic if they aren’t truly COVID aware… They are aware of the spread of COVID, that what’s makes them nervous when they are bunched up in queues with no sanitation for days and hours.

Botha said COVID-19 awareness is being undermined by the conditions at the border posts.
