SRC calls for prayers for Fort Hare University

Fort Hare University SRC President, Mkhanyiseli Nomana, is pleading for prayers to lift the dark cloud hanging over the university.

He said this during a memorial service for Nosicelo Mtebeni on Wednesday.

Mtebeni was a final-year law student and was killed and mutilated by her boyfriend in East London last week.

The university has declared Wednesday an official day of mourning.

Meanwhile, the university’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Sakhele Buhlungu has asked people to refrain from sharing gruesome photos of the late Mtebeni’s dismembered body parts on social media.

Buhlungu says she deserves a dignified send-off.
