Former Judge Willem Heath has died

Former Judge Willem Heath has died in Cape Town at the age of 79 this afternoon. His son Marius confirmed his father’s passing to SABC News. The family has asked for privacy and will release a statement on Thursday.
Heath started his law career as a prosecutor, moving from there to being a member of staff of the Attorney General.
He followed that by starting his own practice as an advocate. He then became a judge of the High Court of South Africa.
From 1995 to 1997 Heath chaired the Commission of Enquiry into corruption, fraud and maladministration in Eastern Cape.
He also headed the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) from 1997 to 2001.
