Help for affected Ivory Park residents following floods

Residents at Ivory Park’s Riverside Informal Settlement have been relocated to a temporary shelter after flash floods on Friday night.

About 187 people have been displaced and close to 40 homes destroyed.

Joburg emergency services’ Robert Mulaudzi says NGO’S such as Gift of the Givers has stepped in to assist.

“Right now the residents who have been affected… have been relocated to a safer area or an emergency centre.

“In that centre, they are receiving assistance from our provincial disaster management, also the city’s disaster management centre is facilitating the process to those affected families.”
