Five young Mzansi stars that have made it internationally. Decades ago, Charlize Theron moved to Los Angeles and for the longest time, she was the only South African making it big in the city of dreams.

Mzansi is fast becoming the hub when it comes to international talent. Many of our stars are in high demand overseas and in recent years, they have managed to become a success both locally and abroad.

Fast forward to 2018, more and more South Africans are making their mark in the international scene. Take a look at some of the young stars who are doing big things overseas.

1. Thuso Mbedu

Two-time International Emmy nominee, Thuso Mbedu is South Africa’s sweetheart. The media personality has been in the entertainment industry for several years and she has achieved many firsts. The South Africa Film and Television Award (SAFTA)  winning actress, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal is well on her way to becoming an international star.

2. Nomzamo Mbatha

Zamo, as she is affectionally called by her fans, is one of South Africa’s most popular women and her reach goes beyond our borders. The actress and philanthropist has had the honour of hosting the International BET awards and she is also an ambassador for global brand Puma.

3. Nandi Madida

Nandi Madida became a household name several years ago when she entered several presenter search competitions and although she did not win, she has managed to make a name for herself in the world of entertainment. Her fashion taste got her to appear on New York’s Fashion Week 2 times.

4. Sho Madjozi

Sho Madjozi became an instant star when she was featured on Okmalumkoolkat’s song, Ngiyashisha Bhe and since then, she has managed to garner a following for herself with legions of fans. The star, who has performed all over the world, including the Global Citizen Concert in New York, has become an international star because of her authentic style and rap style.

5. Nakhane 

Nakhane Touré

The Inxeba star and singer is based in London and a lot of times, he is on a plane taking his music all over Europe. Amidst the Inxeba backlash, the You Will Not Die singer and several of his co-stars were living in fear. The star was even sent death threats by homophobes disguised as traditionalists. However, he has proven that talent will always speak for you. He is an award-winning artist who is loved by many not only in Mzansi, but across the globe.
