Finance minister Tito Mboweni speaks on R500bn relief package

Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni, is expected to brief the media following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of a R500-billion package of economic relief measures.

Mboweni is also expected to be joined by National Treasury executives.

The briefing is scheduled to start at 2 pm. Ramaphosa announced an extraordinary support package to stimulate the economy and protect millions of South Africans from hunger and social distress during the COVID-19 pandemic.
