Fever tents in Gauteng hospitals to help fight COVID-19: Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku

Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku says fever tents at hospitals are to ensure patients are not turned away. Masuku also added that space is running out at hospitals due to an increase in COVID-19 infections.

We have put up fever tents in most of our facilities to help us ensure that patients arriving in hospitals are not turned away.”

The MEC says Gauteng has surpassed the Western Cape’s number of confirmed cases.

Masuku added that initial projections indicated that Gauteng would be the first province to reach high levels of infection in the country.

He says Level 4 and 5 lockdowns helped keep the numbers down for a while. The Provincial Command Council delivered an update on its response to the pandemic on Friday.
