Lawbreakers warned ahead of festive season

Road users in the Eastern Cape have been warned to obey the rules of the road or face the full might of the law.

That is the stern warning from Provincial police Commissioner Nomthetheleli Mene.

SAPS and liquor authorities are also expected to conduct raids at taverns and shebeens to ensure that liquor traders are complying with the law.

The joint operation included the Safety and Security Cluster as well as the police and the department of labour.

Many motorists say they welcomed the operation.

Authorities in the Eastern Cape say they will continue with these operations as they want roads to be safe during the festive season.
