Police to increase visibility for festive season

As the festive season spirit grows, criminals are feeling lucky too.

Gauteng police commissioner Elias Mawela says this festive season is expected to be hectic and police will be increasing their visibility on the ground.

Mawela led the charge in Honeydew on Saturday night with Operation O Kae Molao.

Police wanted to crack down on an area known for serious crimes including murder and assault.

“It is hectic out there,” Mawela said.

“The criminals are targeting people, especially Stokvel people. And those that are withdrawing large sums of monies are targeted.

“We have also increased our activities on the ground. It is tough but we soldier on.”
