List of actresses who have accused Ferguson Films of exploitation

Well-known South African-based Motswana actress, filmmaker, producer, and businesswoman, Connie Ferguson has fast become one of the most sought-after actresses in the country.

The actress has starred in several big-budget drama series, including Generations and The Queen.

However, despite her big wins, her production company, Ferguson Films, has been accused of being an Industry bully by several actors. Ferguson Films is one of South Africa’s biggest production companies.

Over the years, several actresses have accused Ferguson Films of exploitation, abuse, and mistreatment of the cast. No doubt, these daring allegations have often thrust Connie Ferguson into the top trends. Some of the actors include Vatiswa Ndara and Keke Mphuthi.

In 2019, seasoned actress Vatiswa Ndara pulled a shocker when she penned an open letter to the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa. The actress revealed that actors were being abused and unfairly treated by production houses in South Africa.

Ndara particularly mentioned Ferguson Films for exploiting actors while they bag millions. The claims came in the backdrop of her fallout with the production company.

Against the claims, the production company responded with a detailed press statement. Reacting to Vatiswa Ndara’s claims, Keke Mphuthi recounted her experience with the production company. Mphuthi starred in two Ferguson Films productions, The Throne and Unmarried.

In a series of tweets, Keke Mphuthi claimed that she lost her job after she revealed that she was pregnant. The production company went on to write off her character despite assuring her that she wouldn’t lose her job.

She claimed that she was notified that her contract had come to an end during her last week of shooting. However, apart from the actresses, The Queen crew member Katlego Malele once opened up about sexual harassment on the set of the show.

Against these daring allegations, Ferguson Films set the record straight with a press statement. The production company said, “The allegations towards Ferguson Films are misguided, misdirected, and misleading and can be seen as a ploy to defame and tarnish our name and reputation.”

However, Connie Ferguson has made headlines after Brenda Ngxoli opened up about her working relationship with the award-winning actress. Speaking on Podcast and Chill with MacG, Brenda Ngxoli made it known that Ferguson Films is one of the best production houses in South Africa.

She revealed that she had never had issues with the company. Brenda Ngxoli said, “I have never had money issues with Connie Ferguson. I have never had my money not arriving on time.”
