Watch: Police officer drags female high school student into the car after she allegedly refused to give him her numbers

Krugersdorp police have apparently been recorded pushing and shoving a female high school pupil.

In a video doing the rounds on social media, cops can be seen dragging the resistant pupil, who is crying at the back of the car.

The details of why they took the pupil are still unknown.

But one Twitter user claimed the pupil was taken after she refused to give her cellphone number to the cops.

Zandile Excel tweeted: “SAPS member from Krugersdorp manhandles a female pupil after she refused to give him her numbers. He decided to arrest her. Allegedly, he has been following the pupil for weeks now.”

Watch the video:

In the video, one of the pupils can be heard saying to the cops: “Please wait. Can we talk nicely about this?”

The one cop responded: “You will find her at Krugersdorp Police Station.”

Responding to the video, the police tweeted: “The #SAPS is aware of a video circulating on social media involving a high school pupil in Krugersdorp. The Gauteng provincial office is attending to the incident.”

Minister of Police spokesperson, Liranzu Themba said: “Gauteng Provincial Commissioner has sanctioned an urgent departmental investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident that allegedly happened on the streets in the CBD in Krugersdorp on Tuesday, 03 August 2021.”

While police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza said at this stage, it has been established that the 18-year-old female learner was indeed taken to the Krugersdorp police station and subsequently released on the same day, unharmed, into the care of her mother.

“To this end, the members captured on the video have been identified and the departmental investigation is underway. We can confirm that the vehicle captured on the video is a state vehicle and that the members were on duty conducting routine patrols at the time of the incident,” Kweza said.

She said whatever measures that will be taken, will be guided by the outcome of the investigation.
