Fear in Parow as child killer gets parole

Child killer Norman Afzal Simons has been released on parole. Residents in Parow in the Western Cape are not happy and fear for the lives of their children.

They say he has not yet been rehabilitated. The ‘Station Strangler’ was released after 28 years in prison for killing 10-year-old Elroy van Rooyen. The community policing forum says despite concerns raised by residents, it appears there was not enough consultation to bring Simons to the area.

While the Correctional Services Department has kept mum on his exact location, some residents say they fear being targeted as they don’t know if Simons stays right next to them.
