With the heavy rains in most parts of South Africa, poultry farmers are sustaining great losses. A distraught broiler farmer, Mpho Moteka takes to Twitter to share his ordeal yesterday. Posting a picture of scattered dead chickens, tweeps come to the farmer’s emotional rescue.

“Dont give up Sir. Take some time and recuperate. The journey of business/entrepreneurship has its ups and downs. One day you will enjoy the fruits of your labour.”
“That dream you had when you first started all this? If you quit, if you give up, it’s never gonna happen! You experience a loss so you quit!? So you’re through the pain you’re going through now, for nothing? That’s a waste of pain & waste of the expensive lesson you just learned.”

While at the verge of quitting after losing R50 000 worth of chickens, Mpho starts getting a lot of retweets and reassurances.
“Dont quit, that was not your fault but nature. I once lost 600, 4 weeks old birds because birdflue….. but I kept pushing. Slowly but surely…now I have 500 birds in stock.”
“Don’t quit my dear, it’s too early for you to quit u still have a long way 2 go and success don’t come from those who give up easily. This is business bra u need 2 be strong and focus on the future…”
“Just off the pain Mr Mpho, it’s part of the journey. Next time come up with a different strategy and I believe you will come back strong this time.. It’s just the matter of time.. Tiea Motho e moholo”
“Quitting is not a solution this is hw y write up your history I don’t mean this must happen but use it as a learning carve. If y quit and start something else there will be also a different challenge. We learn the had way bra stand up dust yr self up keep walking”

Among the tweeps, one decides to initiate a hashtag #SaveMphosBusiness where people will pledge money to fund Mpho’s losses. With 794 retweets, it seems the bid to save Mpho is up and running. The heavy rains have seen masses destitute with some losing their lives. Good Samaritans still exist after all.
Ladies and Gentlemen our brother lost R50K worth of chickens due to heavy rainfalls and he decided to quit. Can we all donate what we can to help him get back up.#SaveMphosBusiness pic.twitter.com/RqOUenBgS2
