Police union SAPU is calling for the dismissal of National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
The union says the latest stats show he has failed to arrest rising crime.
SAPU spokesperson Lesiba Thobakgale said Masemola is “too silent” when it comes to crime.
“If one can assess him and look at what it is it that he has done since coming in as the national commissioner, unfortunately there is nothing to point out.
“What we see is crime that is out of control,” Thobakgale said.
“We are making this call to the president that if the president indeed is taking the issue of crime seriously in this country, he will fire the national commissioner because he has shown that he has failed in fulfilling his duties as the national commissioner.”
