Families worried about miners held hostage at Gold One mine

Scores of Gold One workers and the families of their colleagues allegedly held hostage underground the mine’s Springs operation East of Johannesburg say they are worried about the health of their loved ones.

They have gathered outside the shaft where an evacuation operation is underway since last night.

More than 100 workers have since surfaced. Six mine workers with medical complications have been rushed to health facilities for treatment. This woman says she last spoke to her husband on Sunday when he left for work.
