Alcohol industry wants excise tax deferment

The Alcohol industry wants excise taxes to be deferred until the booze ban is lifted.

They say it’s extremely challenging to pay these taxes when they have no cash flow.

“The reason why we need a deferment is from a cash flow perspective,” says Rico Basson, managing director of Vinpro.

The wine industry alone has lost around R8-billion in direct sales revenue due to the ban.
