eThekwini Metro counts cost of damage caused by Zandile Gumede supporters

The eThekwini Metro is counting the cost of damage that supporters of have caused. The City Hall and city centre were brought to a standstill by protest action.

While Gumede’s supporters have taken her political fight to the streets of Durban, city officials are counting the financial cost of the city’s shutdown.

The City Hall continues to be under siege and has been brought to a grinding halt by the mayor’s supporters.

Officials say Thursday’s chaos and disruptions affected the city’s service delivery and revenue collection services.

Meanwhile, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says it will discipline Gumede’s supporters.

Protesters want Gumede to return to work immediately. Gumede says she’s in limbo as she awaits the ANC’s decision.
