Eskom warns that stage 2 load shedding will resume on Saturday 11 July
Eskom is determined to ruin our weekend. Our beleaguered power utility announced on Friday evening that stage 2 load shedding will continue until 22:00; and resume Saturday morning.
This follows after three of the six generation units successfully returned to service the Tutuka, Matimba and Arnot power stations.
“This has had a net effect of reducing the plant breakdowns to 2 350MW of capacity, with breakdowns occurring at the Arnot, Kendal, Tutuka and Majuba power stations”.

Load shedding will only be suspended between 22:00 on Friday and 9:00 on Saturday morning, despite generation units expected to return overnight. Here’s what you need to know.
Eskom said in the third power alert for the day that “continuing load shedding [on Saturday 11 July] is necessary in order to replenish the emergency generation reserves.”
This has to be done to “better prepare for the coming week”, Eskom would have us believe. The power utility claims that demand for electricity increased due to the “much colder weather”.
REDUCING THE DEMAND TO STAVE OFF LOAD SHEDDING
Eskom thanked customers for lowering the demand this week; adding that with our help, the maintenance teams will “again recover from this much quicker.
Eskom urges the public to continue reducing electricity usage to help us limit the impact of load shedding”.
