Eskom sub-station catches fire

Eskom sub-station catches fire. Several areas around Midrand, Ivory Park and parts of Thembisa are without power after a fire broke out at the Allandale substation.

The Allandale substation near Tembisa is on fire. Ekurhuleni firefighters are at the scene. Eskom has dispatched its technicians to attend to the substation that is currently on fire.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage. The substation houses both Eskom and CityPowerJhb infrastructure.
