Eskom says Stage 6 power cuts to continue indefinitely

Eskom has ramped power cuts up to Stage 6 until further notice. It blames a large number of breakdowns at several generation units.

The utility says it’s being forced to strictly conserve fuel reserves for its diesel-fired gas turbines, given budget restrictions.

The turbines are usually used for emergency power generation to avoid power cuts. Eskom is asking people to be patient and tolerant during these dark times.
