Scopa to conduct oversight visits at Eskom plants

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) will be conducting oversight visits to the Kusile and Medupi power stations this week.

Eskom’s performance in the past few years has concerned Scopa.

There’s been more than R19-billion in irregular expenditure and a ballooning debt of R380-billion in the 2017/2018 financial year.

Crippling power outages have also had a negative impact on the economy.

The committee will meet with Eskom’s board and top management after its oversight visit.
