Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter says No choice but to implement load-shedding
Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter says they had no alternative but to implement load-shedding. He says the power utility has depleted its emergency reserves and will use the downtime to replenish stock.
“We obviously regret this and we are working hard to bring units back as quickly as possible and we are hoping to reduce the extent of load-shedding as much as we can but in this instance unfortunately we had no alternative but to implement this decision,” he said.
Eskom implemented stage 2 power cuts from Wednesday until Monday morning.
