2 of six escaped prisoners apprehended

Gauteng police have nabbed two escaped prisoners who were part of a group of six that escaped custody while en route to a court in Boksburg.

Another suspect was arrested for aiding and abetting Nkululeko Nkomo and Robert Hlatshwayo.

The pair were apprehended in Olivenhoutbosch in Pretoria. Police have launched a manhunt for the remaining four escapees.

According to reports, the police truck transporting the prisoners was ambushed by three armed men driving a silver Audi at the corner of Barry Marais and Rondebult streets.

Five of the six suspects face charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
