Barney Pityana: Lotto is not for enriching individuals

The national lottery is not there to enrich individuals, according to National Lotteries Commission chairperson Barney Pityana.

During Wednesday’s episode of Power to Truth with JJ Tabane, Pityana was commenting on a multi-million rand scandal being probed by the Special Investigating Unit.

Pityana says malfeasance has eroded the Lottery’s integrity.

At the same time, Pityana says there was a culture of fear and unaccountability at the commission.
