President Cyril Ramaphosa says it’s too early to announce an end to load shedding, but says there’s been a significant improvement in the reduction of power cuts through the implementation of the Energy Action Plan.

According to the president, the country has not experienced load shedding for over six weeks, which he said showed a significant development in the performance of Eskom’s power stations.
Ramaphosa said Eskom’s renewed focus on maintenance was starting to show results by returning several units to service.
According to the president, over 4,000 megawatts of capacity have been added to the national grid.
Ramaphosa said unplanned outages had been reduced by 9% between April and March this year.
He emphasized that strides were being made, and had resulted to over 6% in the country’s Energy Availability Factor.
He added that the supporting role of law enforcement agencies had made inroads in rooting out criminal syndicates and protecting power stations from sabotage.
