Unions Numsa and NUM have signed a wage agreement with Eskom, putting an end to the protracted wage negotiation that has periodically broken down.
In mid-August, a wage agreement was agreed to but both unions held out on signing.
The agreement is for three years and would see an increase of 7.5 percent this year, and 7 percent over the next two years.
Employees who participated in the bargaining forum would also receive a once-off cash payment of R10,000.
Solidarity signed off on the deal with Eskom earlier this month.
Eskom initially refused to offer increases, saying it couldn’t afford it.
Workers then downed tools, demanding a 15 percent pay hike.
Load-shedding and protests followed.
Eskom accused strikers of sabotage and claimed both Numsa and the NUM had stalled the negotiations.
The unions demanded the company refrain from disciplining employees who participated in the strike.
