Cyril Ramaphosa: Eskom board’s mandate is to end blackouts

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Eskom Board’s mandate is to end rolling blackouts.

Ramaphosa says government will support the power utility’s new leadership with the right resources to alleviate power cuts.

“We are really pleased that the board we have announced is well received under the leadership of the new chairman. It’s a diverse mixture of experienced capabilities and expertise.”

“We have a great deal of confidence in that board, they have the responsibility to lead Eskom forward. On our side as a government we will engage with Eskom, our key focus is to ensure load shedding comes to an end,” says Ramaphosa.

Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan announced new board on Friday.

Mpho Makwana is the new board chair.
