Johannesburg Emergency Services has urged parents and guardians to ensure they safeguard their children. This was after a 13-year-old boy drowned while playing with friends at an old building in Orlando, Soweto.
Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo says children must be supervised at all times when playing at swimming pools. EMS continues to caution the residents of Johannesburg to ensure children are safeguarded when swimming at all times,” Khumalo says.
Meanwhile in Durban, the search for the 21-year-old man who drowned on Sunday in the Tugela River near Mandeni, North of Durban, continues. It is alleged the man experienced difficulties whilst attempting to cross the river.
IPSS Search and Rescue Samatha Meyrick says, “IPSS Search Rescue alongside Empangeni Search and Rescue and the Durban SAPS are back on the scene in the Mandeni. On Sunday afternoon it was reported that the 21-year-old man had gone missing when attempting to cross. The search will continue for the man’s body
