EMPD officer, security guard arrested for murder during lockdown

Two men one an Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department officer have been arrested after an altercation between police and community members ended in assault and murder. Ipid spokesperson Sontaga Seisa said police came upon a group of community members on Sunday who was drinking.
While attempting to disperse the group, an altercation ensued. One person was shot dead and four children were injured in the confrontation. An EMPD officer and a security officer were arrested.
Seisa said an investigation into the incident is still ongoing. The men are expected to appear in the Boksburg Regional Court on Tuesday to face charges. Meanwhile, Minister of Defence Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula noted the complaints of heavy-handed treatment doled out by the SANDF to the public in enforcing the lockdown regulations.
