Burst pipes across Johannesburg lead to emergency outage

There are numerous burst pipes across Johannesburg and many irate customers who have had little to no warning they would wake up to dry taps.

A major burst in Parktown has led to an emergency outage and the isolation of the Linksfield Reservoir.

Areas affected include Linksfield, Bramley, Highlands North, and Fairwood.

The Bryanston reservoir has been drained to deal with a major burst pipe on Witkoppen road in Fourways.

Affected areas include Bryanston, Rivonia, Fourways, Magaliessig, and Dainfern.

There’s also been an urgent appeal to residents to reduce water consumption.

Brixton, Hursthill, and Crosby reservoirs and Brixton Tower are at critically low levels.
