Finance Minister Tito Mboweni plans emergency budget for 24 June

Finance Minister Tito Mboweni is set to table an adjusted budget on 24 June. The emergency budget makes provision for COVID-19 relief efforts. Treasury has published special adjustment budget guidelines which include deadlines for departments to make submissions on their adjustment budgets. President Cyril Ramaphosa announced last month that government would provide R500-billion in fiscal support to be directed to COVID-19 priorities.
Of this amount, R130-billion was to be reprioritised from the national budget, which was tabled in February this year. Treasury says other adjustments not included in this emergency budget will be tabled in the October Adjustment Budget. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
