An aircraft carrying eight tons of emergency medical aid has landed in Sudan to resupply hospitals devastated by more than two weeks of fighting. The civilian death toll from the countrywide violence tops 400, as heavy fighting in the capital, continues today.
Army forces have clashed with para-militaries in downtown Khartoum. This despite the latest ceasefire, which was formally set to expire at the end of Sunday. Millions of Sudanese have endured crippling shortages of water, food and other basic supplies.
Sudan’s former prime minister has warned that the conflict could deteriorate into one of the world’s worst civil wars, if not stopped early.
