GOOD Party makes promises over water and electricity rates

Being the new kid on the block doesn’t seem to phase the GOOD Party at all.

Party leader Patricia De Lille says they make up for this with years of local government experience.

She said her party’s focus if elected will be reducing water and electricity costs.

She has told voters, they can vote them out if the party fails to perform within five years.

De Lille said, “we are a young party but we’ve certainly got a lot of experience in local government.”

“We are not making any promises, what we are saying to people is please lend us your vote for five years and if we do not perform during this time you can put us out.”

“People must not give away their vote to political parties, they must put value to that vote. We are standing here with very high water and electricity bills.”

“Our position for the next term of local government is that municipalities must stop making profit out of water and electricity. They buy from Eskom and put a profit or mark-up in. The same with the water. Water and electricity have become unaffordable for people in a way where they now have to choose between paying bills and buying food.”

“As GOOD, if we take over the municipality we will reduce the profit that the municipality is making on water and electricity.”
