President Cyril Ramaphosa promises to deal with electricity crisis in Soweto

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa has described hitting the campaign trail in Soweto as a wonderful day, despite a hostile welcome from residents as the voter registration drive kicked off.
Ramaphosa had his hands full as he tried to calm angry community members protesting over a lack of electricity and service delivery issues.
“The issue of electricity more than any other issue has been the overriding problem that our people are complaining about and in many ways, they feel aggrieved in the way that electricity was cut off, in some cases for quite a long time which is a real concern,” he said.
Meanwhile, voter registration is underway until Sunday. But online registrations will continue beyond the weekend.
