2021 municipal elections: IEC meets to determine electoral programme
The Independent Electoral Commission will announce its electoral programme on Monday.
It’s meeting this weekend after the Constitutional Court dismissed its bid to postpone the municipal elections.
The court’s also ordered Cogta Minister Nkosazana Dlamini- Zuma to declare a new date for the polls.
It will have to be held between 27 October and 1 November.
In July, former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke advised the IEC not to hold elections this year.
He found it will not be free and fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
