Ekurhuleni taps expected to run in 48 hours

Ekurhuleni residents will have water again within 48 hours.
That’s the promise from mayor Tania Campbell after a week of sporadic water and power cuts.
Taps have run dry in Tsakane, Heidelberg, and sections of Daveyton since an Eskom substation tripped, leaving Rand Water unable to pump water to reservoirs.
The mayor says leaving residents in the dark because the municipality’s storerooms do not have fuses is unacceptable.
Campbell said while the faults have been repaired, they’re not out of the woods just yet.
“I would just like to urge residents not to go and fill up baths and work with the city so we can get the reservoir levels high enough so they can feed water into the high and low-lying areas,” she said.
