Ekurhuleni serial rapist sentencing resumes

The much-awaited sentencing of serial rapist Nkosinathi Phakathi is resumed in court on Tuesday.

Phakathi terrorized the Ekurhuleni community from 2012 until his arrest two years ago.

He pled guilty to 148 crimes including rape, kidnapping, theft, and assault and his youngest victim was a 9-year-old.

His modus operandi was to target victims on their way to school.

He would even pose as an electrician to attack some of his victims at their houses.

In April, the court postponed sentencing, after it learned a clinical psychologist report was not finalized.

It will form part of the evidence presented in court for sentencing. Activists are calling for the harshest sentence.
