A male was fatally electrocuted by high voltage power lines at Germiston Lake train station this morning in Germiston.
The Ekurhuleni EMS spokesman, William Ntladi told Daily Sun that it’s alleged that he was attempting to cut the 3000 volts electrical overhead power cables.
He said upon arrival, the body of an adult male was still hanging from high powered electrical cables above the railway lines.
“A cutting tool was found between the rail lines just below the him. Nothing could be done till the power was isolated before the charred body could be brought to the ground. Unfortunately, the patient was declared deceased on scene by paramedics,” said Ntladi.
He further stated that this was the second similar incident in a week whereby a person was killed by high voltage electricity. “Last week Tuesday, same rescue team had to recover the charred body of an adult hanging from the power lines at India train station, Germiston not far from where today`s incident happened. The station is not far from Germiston Lake train station,” said Ntladi.
He also told Daily Sun that the scene was handed over to the police for further investigations and removal of the mortal remains to an appropriate Forensic facility.
