EFF rejects de Ruyter’s appointment as Eskom CEO

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is rejecting the appointment of Andre de Ruyter as Eskom CEO. De Ruyter will take over the reins at the embattled power utility in January.
The EFF says his appointment is irrational, shameful, racist and anti-transformative. The party says this is a clear demonstration of a deliberate intent to collapse Eskom. The EFF is also accusing Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan of undermining Africans.
“The EFF rejects the anti-transformation and racist appointment of Eskom’s new CEO, Andre de Ruyter, and we are disgusted by the continued obliteration of Africans in key state-owned enterprises,” the EFF said in a statement. The red berets say Gordhan and President Cyril Ramaphosa are reversing transformation at state-owned entities.
The party’s urging workers, trade unions and civil society to reject de Ruyter’s appointment.
